Students are exercising their constitutional rights to exercise their freedom of speech. However, as often before, the government and institutions try to suppress them.
Universities exist not only because they are institutions of higher learning but also because they teach students life skills. Universities should be more tolerant of students exercising their constitutional right to free speech. That right is a cornerstone of democracy and should always be protected.
As the future leaders of our society, students have the right to express their political views, even if they challenge the government or majority rules. When institutions suppress these views, it can lead to a dangerous path of anarchy and disobedience. Denying students the opportunity to voice their opinions in a safe environment, such as on university campuses, can push them to express their dissent in more disruptive ways, like taking their actions to the streets and public places.
Youth always find ways to demonstrate their opinions.
The U.S. government’s aggressive foreign policy has created uncertainty within the U.S. and abroad, further escalating to demonstrations and civil disobedience. The American youth has realized that the incumbent president’s path leads to chaos and volatile world order. However, connecting with their brothers and sisters aboard is the path to global unity, common values, and shared understanding.
