Since my childhood I have always been interested in the legacy that John F. Kennedy left – not only to American people, but to all citizens in the world to follow and remember.
John F. Kennedy’s legacy is a complex one, shaped by his brief presidency, his assassination, and the passage of time. He is remembered for his charisma, his idealism, and his commitment to public service. He is also remembered for his accomplishments, both foreign and domestic.
One of Kennedy’s most significant accomplishments was his handling of the Cuban Missile Crisis. In 1962, the Soviet Union placed nuclear missiles in Cuba, just 90 miles from the coast of Florida. Kennedy imposed a naval blockade on Cuba and demanded that the Soviets remove the missiles. The crisis was resolved peacefully, and Kennedy is credited with preventing a nuclear war.

One of the most memorable achievement of Kennedy was significant progress on civil rights. He appointed Thurgood Marshall to the Supreme Court, and he signed the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965. These laws helped to end segregation and discrimination in the United States.
Kennedy also launched the Peace Corps, which sent thousands of young Americans to developing countries to work on projects such as education, health care, and agriculture.
Kennedy’s legacy is also shaped by his assassination. He was shot and killed on November 22, 1963, in Dallas, Texas. Even though it has never been solved his death was a national tragedy, and it left a deep mark on the American psyche.
Kennedy’s legacy is still debated today. Some people believe that he was a great president who could have accomplished even more if he had not been assassinated. Others believe that he was overrated and that his accomplishments were not as significant as they are often portrayed.
Regardless of one’s opinion of Kennedy, there is no doubt that he was a consequential figure in American history. His presidency was a time of great change and upheaval, and he helped to shape the course of the nation. His legacy will continue to be debated for years to come.
