EDITORIAL: Open letter to the people of a just world

To the citizens of the world.

When the world is in chaos and descending into darkness, we all have a responsibility to search for the common ground upon which we can rebuild the world and international relations.

We have overcome difficult times in the past and always prospered. After two world wars and a great recession, we rebuilt the world from the ground up, all the way to functioning societies. We are now facing similar challenges. Whether we will descend into the abyss of world war or face great economic peril depends on us all. It has come a time when we all must blow to the same flame and let its light reach even the farthest corners of the globe to bring the light of peace and prosperity to all people of a free and just world.

If there has ever been a time when establishing order was of great importance, it is now. There is a need to find common ground to build a more stable and considerate world. We must overcome cultural, religious, and political differences and start using the language of reconciliation.

As the United Nations and world leaders fall short, it is up to us, the people, to demand a peaceful and just world order to rebuild thriving societies.

Therefore, world leaders, heed the words of the late President John F. Kennedy:

“So let us begin anew–remembering on both sides that civility is not a sign of weakness, and sincerity is always subject to proof. Let us never negotiate out of fear. But let us never fear to negotiate.

Let both sides explore what problems unite us instead of belaboring those problems which divide us.”

May we all be blessed with strength and understanding as we strive towards achieving unity.
