OPINION: Failing efforts to support never-ending conflict

According to the latest reports from the Pentagon, the West is experiencing a growing sense of war fatigue, and aid is dwindling.

Zelenskyy seems unsuccessful despite fierce efforts to raise more money and awareness for Ukraine. The Western countries that were providing financial aid are running low on funds, and as a result, Ukraine could be left with little or no military support.

Amidst the ongoing conflict, EU President Ursula von der Leyen is pushing for Ukraine’s ascension to the EU. However, some are questioning the validity of this decision. Some Ukrainians hope their country will become a member in the next ten years after the war ends.

Ukraine’s general, Valerii Zaluzhnyi, claims that the situation has reached a stalemate, and the Ukrainian military failed to execute a successful counteroffensive and break through the Russian defence lines. Many Western cynics and so-called experts continue spreading false hope with their vague statements, mainly blaming the Western governments for Ukraine’s failure.

The Western governments are facing a dilemma regarding Ukraine. They cannot devise an amicable solution to the conflict despite their efforts. In addition, they need to grapple with budget deficits and disagreements among politicians on how to proceed.

Although both warring parties understand that financial and military aid cannot be sustained indefinitely, they are unwilling to pursue diplomatic channels to resolve the conflict.
